Walter is a canine character in Season One of the Showtime series DEXTER.
He is a Beagle who lived in the yard of Rita's Neighbor until Rita found him a new home.
Summary[]
Originally, Walter belonged to the ex of Rita's Neighbor. When they broke up, the man left his dog behind with the neglectful woman. She kept Walter outside at all hours and ignored him, despite how much he barked.
The continual noise caused Rita Bennett, as well as her kids, discomfort and sleepless nights. Her boyfriend, Dexter Morgan, tried to reason with the neighbor about improving the situation, but she ignored him. Dexter considered "alternative means" to take care of Rita's problem with the dog, but decided that it would be "wrong" to do so.
Rita also tried to deal with the neighbor herself but met with the same resistance. Subsequently, she chose to help the poor dog by stealing it from her neighbor's yard. Rita then delivered Walter to Yelina, her friend from work, and her two nieces. Rita simply asked that Walter would be loved and cared for by them, unlike with his previous owner.
