Valedictorian Murder Case is a police investigation in Season One of the Showtime series DEXTER.

- Jeremy Down - A known killer who did time in juvie for a similar murder about ten years ago. He was eventually apprehended by the police and arrested for the murder. Jeremy later confessed to Dexter Morgan, afterward committing suicide in jail.
History of Killer[]
Jeremy Downs was a troubled kid who was in juvie for the murder of another teen for no apparent reason. What he didn't tell the police is that he killed the boy because he raped him and was simply "taking out the trash." When he was released from juvie, he tried to keep his murderous instincts in check, but gave in and killed again.
Detectives on Case[]
- Sergeant James Doakes - Ran point on the investigation and seriously took Dexter's theory that the killer had prior experience and tracked down Jeremy, arresting him for the murder.
- Detective Pullman - Worked on the case with Doakes and helped arrest Jeremy for the murder.
- Lieutenant Maria LaGuerta - Managed the personnel on the case while dealing with the Ice Truck Killer Case.

- Blood Spatter Analyst Dexter Morgan - Worked on the crime scene since there was a lot of blood. He determined that the valedictorian's murderer had prior experience based on the path of the blade and comes to the silent conclusion that Jeremy is the killer.

- Jason Riech - A high school yearbook editor who was very well known. His parents were high profile people which is why even as the Ice Truck Killer investigation was heating up, LaGuerta told Doakes and Pullman to stay on the case.
Closure of Case[]
The case has been officially closed because of the overwhelming evidence and the arrest of Jeremy Downs for the murder.
Fate of Killer[]
Jeremy Downs was sent to lock-up pending trial for the murder where he killed someone he felt deserved to die -- himself.
