The Timeline of Events is a collection of information spreading across the Television series, DEXTER. Starting from the earliest known instances referenced in the show to the most recent, the timeline is designed to make a record of all events that have occurred within the series. The timeline can be used to record birth dates, death dates and other significant info.

The timeline will be broken into years then months and days in regards to seasons and include specifics such as "morning", "afternoon", "evening" and even times where applicable. Specific dates (such as the day or even month) may not be possible for all events.

  • Dexter Morgan kills a dog named Buddy, prompting his adoptive father Harry Morgan to question his son on if he's different or not.

Early 1980'sEdit

  • Harry Morgan begins seeing Dr. Evelyn Vogel in regards to his concern over his son's psychological state. She determines that he is a budding psychopath and confirms Harry's worst fear about this.[102]
  • The Morgan family visits a beach, where Dexter refuses to smile for a photo while his father coaches him on attempting to blend in and appear "normal" [103]

Early 2006Edit

  • Dexter Morgan begins tracking a man named Marcetti. Debra sets up a date for Dexter and Rita. This is the first time they met.
  • Dexter kills Marcetti and dumps his bodyparts in the Bay Harbor. He begins to date Rita shortly thereafter.

  • Miami Tribune headline: "BAY HARBOR BUTCHER: FRIEND OR FOE?" Dexter stands in line for coffee and overhears people praising the Bay Harbor Butcher. Debra says that she would kill the Butcher. She tries to get to know Gabriel better.

Tuesday March 20th

  • Dexter gets an armadillo out of Rita's house. He acquires the crime file of Santos Jimenez and tries to kill him that night, but he ends up repenting and spending the night with Lila. Debra reads Gabriel's email and mistakenly believes that he is writing a book about her relationship with the Ice Truck Killer.[318]

Wednesday March 21st

  • In the morning, Lila tells Dexter about the time that she caused the death of Marco. Gail emails the school board her letter of resignation and decides to stay in Miami.[319]

Wednesday April 18th

  • Deborah has breakfast with Dexter and Lila. Dexter brings doughnuts to Rita's house and gives a dragon zombie figurine to Cody. Lundy announces that he is operating under the assumption that the Bay Harbor Butcher is connected to law enforcement.[321]

Thursday April 19th

  • Angel and Debra visit Lenny Asher. Lila goes bowling with Dexter, who is attacked by Jimenez in the parking lot.[322]

Friday April 20th

  • Dexter lies to Lila about working late and kills Jimenez. Lila breaks into Rita's house, upsetting Dexter.[323]

Saturday April 21st

  • Dexter awakens after a night of trying to keep anyone from breaking into Rita's house. Lila follows him to work. That night, Lundy shows Dexter his found box of blood slides and says that Doakes is a suspect.[324]

Wednesday April 25th

  • James Doakes gets gas from Mobil Station off of Highway 41.[325]
  • Dexter sneaks away from the feds and reaches the Everglades at night, where Doakes sees him withbags full of bodies. Dexter imprisons Doakes.[326]
  • Dexter leaves Doakes in his cage.[327]

Thursday April 26th

  • Rita visits Dexter and invites him to hang with the family on Saturday. Lundy shows everyone the possible aliases Doakes could be using. Dexter announces the results of the blood analysis to Lundy. At night, Doakes attempts to escape but is interrupted when Dexter arrives.[328]

Friday April 27th

  • Dexter gets a text on Jimenez's cell phone from Jose Garza and tries to get him to meet him at the cabin where he has Doakes.[329]

Saturday April 28th

  • Dexter spends the day at the beach with Rita, Astor, and Cody. He tells Rita that he found out that Harry might have committed suicide. Angel has sex with Lila, who is trying to frame him for rape. Dexter kills Garza in front of Doakes, who says "Stay away from me," reminding Dexter of what Harry said when he saw the result Dexter's first kill. Dexter realizes that he may have driven Harry to suicide.[330]
  • Doakes tries to convince Dexter to turn himself in. Dexter gets a call from Good Samaritan Hospital informing him that Lila is there.[331]

Sunday April 29th

  • Lundy introduces FBI Deputy Director Max Adams. Doakes escapes from the cabin but is taken by criminals. Dexter fixes Rita's car. Dexter kills the criminals and then puts Doakes back in the cage. Debra has dinner with Angel and Vince.[332]

Monday April 30th

  • Dexter visits Lila in the morning and asks her to drop the rape charges against Angel. Debra asks Lundy to search for files about Lila Tournay, and he finds nothing. Angel brings his microwave to Vince since it has Lila's fingerprints. Dexter takes Rita, Astor, and Cody to the ocean on his boat. He has dinner with Debra that night and decides that he will go through with his plan for Doakes.[333]
  • Lila arrives at the cabin and burns it, killing Doakes.[334]

Friday September 16th

  • Leo Hernandez is shot to death by the police. Before his death, Brother Sam tells Dexter to forgive Nick. When he tells Nick everything, Nick feels no remorse, so Dexter drowns him at the beach where he was baptized. He starts hallucinating Brian Moser.[471]

Saturday September 17th

  • Dexter dumps Nick's body. Deb tells him that Jonah Mitchell saw his mother and sister get murdered in a way similar to the Trinity murders. She lets Dexter have a day off. He decides to go on a road trip to Nebraska.[472]

  • Dexter speaks to Jonah Mitchell about what happened to his family. Deb and Angel speak to Holly, who escaped Gellar and Marshall.[473]

  • Deb talks to Dr. Michelle Ross about how she dated the Ice Truck Killer. Dexter discovers Gellar's frozen body and that Marshall had done all of the murders.[493]

  • Neil gives Angel a lead on Doomsday Adam. He visits Steve Dorsey's wife, Beth, and questions her. Travis arrives and knocks him out after Dexter kills Steve by accident.[498]
  • The police arrive at the scene of Steve's death. Quinn saves Batista but Marshall gets away. Dexter stops Beth from killing the police with poisonous gas and she only kills herself. Dr. Ross suggests that Deb is in love with Dexter. Dexter attaches Gellar's hand to a statue of an angel and writes "666" on the statue's forehead.[499]
  • Order of Condemnation and Demolition is issued to Rendell Psychiatric Hospital by the 11th Judicial District Court[500]

Sunday November 27th

  • The police find the angel statue. Travis hears about it on the news and paints a painting that has Dexter in it. Deb imagines herself kissing Dexter. Dexter tries to capture Travis, but Travis tranquilizes him, puts him in a boat, and tries to set him on fire. Dexter escapes.[501]

Monday November 28th

  • Dexter gets on a boat full of immigrants and kills a robber. He gets home and says "I love you" to Deb for the first time. The police go to Travis Marshall's home. Dexter takes Harrison to the Noah's Ark pageant. Travis abducts him and kills an officer. He tries to kill Harrison, but Dexter stops Travis during the solar eclipse and tranquilizes him. Deb gets emotional when the police officer is found. Deb tells Michelle that she loves Dexter. Dexter kills Travis but is seen by Deb.[502]

Monday September 3rd

  • Jamie spends one last day with Harrison. Dexter tries to sell his boat. Debra finds the ring that Joseph kept. Dexter finds Saxon's kill room in Rendell Psychiatric Hospital.[610]

  • Saxon shows up at Dexter's home as a buyer. He offers a truce and threatens to go after Dexter's family if the truce is broken.[611]

Wednesday September 5th

  • Debra helps Dexter capture Saxon. Dexter decides that he does not need to kill him and lets Deb take care of him. Dexter stops hallucinating about Harry. Max Clayton finds the kill room and frees Saxon, believing him to be a victim. Saxon kills Clayton and shoots Debra.[612]
  • Dexter checks up on Debra in the hospital. Hannah and Harrison evade Elway and get on the plane to Argentina. Debra goes into a coma. Saxon is arrested, but Dexter kills him, making it look like self-defense. As Hurricane Laura passes, Dexter dumps Deb's body in the bay and drives his boat into the storm.[613]
