Interesting question. By the way I had watched Season 4 finale two days ago and Ukrainian televison had an interesting surprise - they cut the ending! Episode ended just when Dexter sits back and listens to Rita's voice mail. It was cut so neatly in the place that I think it's just a video technician on TV Station who really loves Rita. ;)
Nope, that's the funniest point. They have shown the scene later, of course, in the announces of Season 5, but some people who missed those announce were probably as surprised by the events of "My Bad" as Cody and Astor. :)
All these were kinda black spots on the show writers. But, Rita's death was really a smack in the face. Instead, they could've killed that annoying kid Astor. Because, that could've suited the Trinity's pattern, because Dex saved that kid scott from Cement pool. It feels writers messed up story lines and messed up Trinity's kill pattern.
RIP Rita, my love :(
To DexDevotee - You're right, Dex could've followed Arthur in his own car and took him to bomb shelter. But, I was still confused on how Dex missed the call from Rita, about how she came back to house for her ID. Because, at that time Dex was at Arthur's home when the police raid happened. Only after that, Dex found about the Autoparts shop and started followed Arthur. So, that's the time Rita might've called reg. her return to house.
Also, when a person returns for any ID, they won't takeout all their luggage from their cab. And say, that Rita got killed inside, but won't the cabbie check on her by knocking the door and return the luggage and getting his cab fare?
Rita's death is sad. But, not knowing exactly who killed her and why is really very sad for me. I truly hate this SHOWTIME guys. They make us fall in love with such a sweet characters only to kill'em off later on. Like they killed Abby in Ray Donovan show.
To Daryl9000 - Rita likely realized that she forgot her ID after she arrived at the airport, and had to return home. The taxi driver didn’t wait for her because on her phone message to Dexter, Rita said she was going to take a ”later puddle-jumper” so she evidently arranged a different flight. As to why Dexter didn’t listen to her message earlier, he has shown multiple times to ignore phone calls while he’s “busy.” (Case in point, when Rita almost had a miscarriage and he was “taking care” of Ethan Turner.)
It was confirmed that Dexter did not kill Rita in “Hello Bandit.” While Dexter was at the Mitchell house, the police conducted a raid there, and many were aware of Dexter’s presence. It was during the raid that Rita was murdered, according to the FBI. She called him before she was murdered, but he didn't listen, as he was focused on capturing Arthur.
I watch Ray Donovan, too. It was sad when Abby died, and I hated it when Ray almost committed suicide. DexDevotee 19:48, October 1, 2019 (UTC)
To DexDevotee..I've seen a article reg. the ending of Dexter show. In that, they've said that the writers deliberately ended the show as Dex living like a lumber jack in a remote place where no one knows him.
Acc. to the article author, It's because, the writers wanted to revive the show from that point of time. But, with Dexter (Micheal Hall) cancer and his personal problems like divorce to Deb (Jennifer) and third marriage they couldn't restart the show. But, the author was sure that the Dexter show will be back soon. Just like him, I too wish for that to happen, asap.
P.S..I'm really glad to meet a DexFan like you and it really feels so good to talk about a great show. I'm curious to know what other tv shows you'd love and watched.
Good day :)
Hi Daryl9000!
I also enjoy talking with another Dexter fan. That sounds like an interesting article. I’ve read that Hall was treated for his cancer when Season Four was completed, and he has since been in remission (not really keeping up on this, though). His divorce from Jennifer was finalized in 2011, but he still completed Season Seven and Season Eight of Dexter. Also, Hall has changed his stance on playing Dexter. At first, he said that he wanted to move on from the role, but later said he might consider Dexter again, depending on how it was presented. Since the final season of Dexter, Hall has not lacked for work. He’s had parts in about ten movies. six series, and at least five stage plays/musicals.
As for the other TV shows I love, it’s a LONG list...haha. I will give you a few of my very favorites -- not sure if you have seen them, or have access to them. Breaking Bad (now ended), Sons of Anarchy (now ended), Animal Kingdom (ongoing, TNT series, not movie), Hannibal (now ended, NBC series, not movie). In my opinion, these shows are great, but more violent than Dexter.
Cheers!
