Sonya is a Character in DEXTER. She was a nanny that worked for Dexter Morgan to watch Harrison Morgan before being replaced by Jamie Batista for unknown reasons.
Appearance
Sonya is a middle-aged Irish woman with long, dark red hair and green eyes. She has small gaps between each of her teeth, that define their shape. She typically wears a usual Nanny outfit. Being a very conservative lady she only wears clothes that cover most of her body, except maybe allowing her arms to be visible, but otherwise, she is always seen in a dress.
Personality
She has a very gentle personality, instantly bonding with Dexter's young son who also takes quite a fond interest in her. The two together act perfectly with one another and she is shown to be a woman that knows just how to care for a child, despite how they act...but in Harrison's case, he's always an angel for her.
Underneath this personality however is a coat of mystery, along with at least four other characters introduced this season she has somewhat of a suspicious nature that some relate to how Lila West originally acted before becoming a major pyromaniac and others relate it to a somewhat creepy woman who might kill Harrison. This worry comes to Dexter's mind on one occasion after he comes home late and finds that both she and his son are missing...he begins to doubt her severely despite how perfect he felt she was for Harrison and begins to plan just how to find her when suddenly she comes through the door, explaining her reasoning for taking him out. Dexter calms down but clearly Sonya is a woman who does not appreciate a lack of trust and especially someone she's supposed to be working for stay out without warning: she even quits temporarily because of this.
She has a forgiving nature and her natural kinship to young Harrison allows her to return easily to Dexter's employ and most recently she can be seen watching him like any normal babysitter.

Sonya is a character exclusive to Season Five, one of several whom disappear after the season with little to no explanation.
Season Five
In the events following Season Four, Dexter Morgan is faced with raising his son Harrison alone after his wife's murder at the hands of the Trinity Killer. With Cody and Astor staying with their grandparents, Dexter seeks out help to watch over his son so that he may continue uninterrupted at work and more importantly for him...claiming more victims. He has several interviews with less than desirable potential nannies and finally comes across Sonya, whom he's taken with despite Deb's objection.
Sonya for the most part in her time watching over Harrison is shown to be a kind and considerate woman who takes a real liking to the boy. While at first Dexter becomes paranoid when she decides to take him out for a walk without notification (which leads him to believing she kidnapped Harrison), Dexter comes to trust her with his son while he's away. She later helps assist in arranging Harrison's first birthday party, where she's seen taking part in the activities along with everyone else.
For unspecified reasons, she is not present in Season Six and is instead replaced by Angel Batista's younger sister Jamie as the new babysitter. Sonya is not mentioned by anyone at the start of this season nor is there any indication why she left his services.

- Sonya unfortunately fell into the category of characters that disappear between seasons. This is likely due to their contract only requiring their appearance for one season and/or Showtime deciding to drop them afterwards.
