Miami is a city located on the Atlantic coast in southeastern Florida, U.S. And at which the storyline of Dexter takes place. It is the home to most of the characters in the show, including Dexter Morgan and Debra, along with most of the Miami Metro Police Department team. Arthur Mitchell also lived in Miami, and the Ice Truck Killer was (in the books) called the Taimiami butcher.
Dexter says that he likes living in Miami, stating that he enjoys the Cuban food and comments on the fact that a lot of old people move to Miami and therefore there is a lot of bargains to be gained from haggling with merchants, but notes that he is uninterested in such things. Miami also seems to attract a large amount of serial killers and Dexter says that he "works hard to keep the streets of Miami clean".
