When the Spider received payment for a shipment of cocaine, Spider failed to deliver it and Garza took his revenge.

Jose Garza aka Christopher Harlow was a drug trafficker and murderer on the run from the FBI.

At some unknown point he killed a man named Ben "Spider" Koff and has since then been a fugitive on the run from the FBI. Garza purchased cocaine from Santos Jimenez, but never got it because Jimenez was killed by Dexter. Garza came looking for him, sending various text messages to Jimenez's phone, which was now in Dexter's possession. Garza had no idea that he was really talking to Dexter and also didn't have knowledge about Jimenez's cabin in the Everglades at first, but he eventually found it out and threatened to go there. Dexter, however, had locked Doakes in the cabin and did not want to risk Garza discovering his secret.

Dexter instead texts Garza back and ask him to meet at Jimenez's bar. Their meeting is not shown, only the aftermath as Dexter returns to the cabin and tosses an unconscious Garza onto a table. Despite the protesting of Doakes, who tried to convince Dexter to let the police handle Garza, Dexter kills him with a small hand saw without taking a blood sample or waiting for him to regain consciousness. Dexter dismembers the body, but does not dispose of the remains right away, choosing instead to leave them in garbage bags inside the cabin with a horrified Doakes.

After Lila blows up the cabin, Garza's charred remains are found scattered around the ruins of the cabin. Combined with the weapons found at the scene, the FBI task force considers his body to be conclusive evidence that Doakes was The Bay Harbor Butcher.

  • All of Garza's dialogue is in text form only. The only time he is shown on screen he is unconscious prior to being killed by Dexter.
