The Gayle Suicide Case is a police investigation into the apparent suicide of a prominent prosecutor.
Suicide - Suspected of committing suicide based on the pattern of the blood and the fact she was seeing a therapist for depression.
Emmett Meridian - The victim's therapist who manipulated her mind through his words and drugs. Convinced her to commit suicide and even did the same to two other women.

At some point Meridian became a therapist and helped people with their problems and is actually very effective (Dexter Morgan). But at some unknown point decided to use his powers of manipulating the mind to get rich and powerful women to kill themselves.

- Detective Angel Batista - Ran point on the investigation and indulged the husband's request to investigate. He even mentioned the two similar suicides to Dexter, though he doesn't make the connection.
- Sergeant-Detective James Doakes - Assisted with the investigation alongside Morgan and Batista.
- Officer Debra Morgan - Worked on the case with Batista and Doakes.

Emmett Meridian is unsuspected of the crime and initially gets away with planting thoughts of suicide into her head until Dexter comes along and kills him.
