Tony Tucci is a character in Season One of the Showtime series DEXTER.

He is initially suspected of being The Ice Truck Killer. Later, he is found alive, having suffered amputations by The Ice Truck Killer.

Description[]

Tony Tucci is a somewhat heavyset man in his thirties with brown hair and green eyes.

Personality[]

Tucci has an optimistic attitude, considering his status as a double amputee thanks to The Ice Truck Killer; it even borders on comedic at times. He is also flirtatious with women, as shown when he competes with Rudy Cooper for the affection of Debra Morgan, a competition in which Rudy wins out. One of his biggest worries following the incident is how it will affect his status with women. However, Debra manages to get Tucci a night with a prostitute while he's still in the hospital.

Early Life[]

Tucci didn't pass high school chemistry, and he has a criminal record because he pulled a knife during a party in 1997.

Summary[]

"Popping Cherry"

Tony Tucci works as a night watchman at the Miami Blades Ice Hockey Stadium, where the dismembered body of Sheri Taylor was left on display. Security camera footage from the ice rink shows Tucci arranging the body parts on the ice, and he's found to be missing.

Lt. Maria LaGuerta announces that Tucci is the Ice Truck Killer and launches a high profile manhunt for him. Debra Morgan, however, has her doubts. When she reviews the security footage with Angel Batista, he notices that Tucci turns his head while repositioning the torso, as if following directions.

"Let's Give the Boy a Hand"

LaGuerta is forced to apologize to Tucci’s mother when fingerprint analysis of a severed left hand left on Petrie Beach proves that Tucci is a victim, not the killer.

A right foot is next found in an office park. While examining the foot, Dexter discovers that it was amputated from a living person, suggesting that Tucci is still alive.

Lastly, a section of Tony's right leg is found at McCaffrey Pumpkin Patch.

The police are unaware that the body parts left on display are private clues meant for Dexter. At each scene, the killer also leaves a different photo that triggers a memory of Dexter’s childhood. The connection between the body parts and the photos lead Dexter to an abandoned hospital, where Harry's father had worked as a janitor.

Dexter finds Tucci lying bound to a table in the rat-infested basement, blindfolded, and set up for Dexter to kill. Tucci, unable to bear any more torture, begs Dexter (thinking he's his captor) to put him out of his misery. Tucci fails to meet Dexter's code, however, and he refuses to kill him. Dexter catches a shadowy glimpse of the killer before he escapes. Immediately, Dexter calls in an anonymous tip to Debra, and she is praised when the police find Tucci still alive.

"Love American Style"

Tucci is interviewed by Debra and Sgt. James Doakes while he’s recovering in the hospital. However, Tucci proves to be of little help as he didn't see the killer's face, being blindfolded the entire time. (It also prevented him from seeing Dexter in the basement.)

Later, Tucci is blindfolded at Debra's suggestion, and he recalls that his captor would suck on menthol-flavored lozenges. Thereafter, the forensics team discover a lozenge wrapper in the hospital's basement as part of a rat's nest, with a partial fingerprint on it.

Debra decides to do something nice for Tucci brings Shanda, a prostitute, to the hospital and watches the door while they have sex.

"Circle of Friends"

Prosthetist Rudy Cooper provides Tucci with functioning replacements for his missing leg and hand. A small celebration is held in his hospital room, attended by Rudy, Debra, Doakes, and Shanda.
