AFIS Mobile

AFIS mobile

The Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) is a biometric identification (ID) methodology that uses digital imaging technology to obtain, store, and analyze fingerprint data. An AFIS portable application is used by Dexter to scan fingerprints at crime scenes, by using his cellphone's camera.

Usage[]

According to the way he uses the application, the surface where the fingerprint is placed must be flat. If it is not, Dexter powders the print and places a transparent sticker-like band over the surface to get a sample of the print. He then puts the band over a flat surface to scan it.

Season Seven[]

Dexter uses AFIS to identify Kaja Soroka when she is found dead in the trunk of Viktor Baskov's car.

Season Eight[]

Vince Masuka uses AFIS to prove that it's Professor Gellar's hand that's attached to an angel statue.
