Deveaux is a Character in the Dexter Comics. Deveaux is a former member of the Tonton Macoute and was supposedly reformed of his old ways as a member of the New Hope Foundation, also working there as Steve Gonzalez's personal security due to his military expertise, this until his demise on issue #3 of the Dexter comic.

HistoryEdit

Dexter: Issue 2Edit

Dexter: Issue 3Edit

After encountering Deveaux at Steve Gonzalez's office, and questioning him about Arthur Bleek's death, Dexter and Deborah head to the Miami Police Dept. However they are stopped by an unknown motorcycle driver which attacks them by igniting their vehicle with a molotov-like explosive. Been a former Tonton Macoute, Deveaux becomes the prime suspect of the attack. While Dexter investigates Gonzalez's home (unknown to Deborah), Deborah calls him regarding Deveaux, and to both's surprise, Deveaux is dead.

TriviaEdit

  • Deveaux is a former Tonton Macoute, and it is confirmed that at least during the time he was a member of that paramilitary group, he used fire as his main killing method, making him an arson just as Gene Marshall in Dexter Early Cuts: Gene Marshall, Lila West in Season 2 and the Phantom Arsonist (Joe Jensen) in Season 7.
  • Dexter's Dark Passenger does not respond to Deveaux, even after the molotov attack and instead remained focused on Gonzalez. This could indicate that Deveaux was not responsible for the attack, due to his corpse being found at the end of Issue 3.
  • Deveaux has a long scar running from the left side of his upper lip over his left eye and stops short of his hairline. Of interest, when his body is found dead only the right lense is broken from his sunglasses with the left still covered by the glass. It could be that he was blind in his left eye and with the loss of color in the pupils following death, the artist simply chose to keep the lense on that eye to give focus on the right eye's paleness.
